Eden Ridge Farms is a fourth-generation family and employee owned farm operating in central Iowa just outside of Des Moines. We row crop mainly corn and hay as well as feed over 1000 head of cattle each year.
The Characters
Katie and Vachel live on the farm site with their two children and dog. Katie works at a financial company in Des Moines, and does not work on the farm, but does write the blog. Vachel works at a major agriculture company in Des Moines and manages all of the financial aspects of the farm. He also works nights and weekends on the farm with John and Austin.

John is Vachel's father, and the eldest generation on the farm. He brings a wealth of experience and general cattle knowledge, especially forage management, to the operation.

Austin is the newest member of the farm operation. He is foreman of daily operations and comes from a feedyard background.
